Grain Apart: Our Story
It began in my family’s kitchen, watching my grandmother and my aunt — my father’s sister — cook the food they carried with them from Lebanon. There were no written recipes, only intuition, patience, and love. I learned by observing, tasting, asking questions, and being trusted with small tasks that slowly became bigger ones. Food was how stories were told, how memories were preserved, and how culture stayed alive.
As I grew older, that early exposure sparked a deeper curiosity. I wanted to understand not just the dishes I grew up with, but the full richness of Levantine cuisine — the variations, the techniques, the shared roots across Lebanon, Greece, Turkey, and beyond. What started as heritage became a lifelong pursuit.
My path to Grain Apart was anything but linear. I spent years in the corporate world, building a successful career while feeling a quiet pull toward something more meaningful. Eventually, that pull became impossible to ignore. Leaving behind stability was terrifying — and necessary. I chose to take the risk and follow my passion.
